PhD thesis:
The aim of this work is the optimization of parameters of nonlinear three dimensional global biogeochemical models.
Besides an analysis of a hierarchy of models, a software for the high performance computing framework should be implemented.
This software should be based on preconditioned matrix-free Newton-Krylov methods.
